Atsuhiko Gondai Strings between Time and Eternity Wins the 72nd Otaka Award

Atsuhiko Gondai’s Strings between Time and Eternity for violin and orchestra has been selected as winner of the 72nd Otaka Award, organized by the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
Strings between Time and Eternity is scheduled to be performed on June 26 at the "Music Tomorrow 2025" concert, held at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall in Hatsudai, Tokyo, by soloist Ayana Tsuji – who performed the world premiere of this work – and the NHK Symphony Orchestra. Notably, Jörg Widmann will conduct the the work alongside the Japanese premieres of two of his own compositions: Danse macabre and Towards Paradise (Labyrinth VI),featuring trumpet virtuoso Håkan Hardenberger.
Strings between Time and Eternity was commissioned by the Aichi Chamber Orchestra. It was premiered on February 28th, 2024 at MS&AD Shirakawa Hall with soloist Ayana Tsuji and the Aichi Chamber Orchestra conducted by Kazufumi Yamashita.
