Argento Chamber Ensemble Presents the U.S. Premiere of Georg Friedrich Haas's <em>Introduktion und Transsonation</em>

The Argento Chamber Ensemble celebrates the 7th anniversary of the Moving Sounds Festival on September 18 with a program called “Scelsi Revisited”, featuring the U.S. premiere of Georg Friedrich Haas’s Introduktion und Transsonation for 17 instruments and tape. The event is hosted by the Bohemian National Hall in New York City, presented in collaboration with the Austrian Cultural Forum.

Commissioned by Klangforum Wien, the piece was inspired by Scelsi’s experimental sonic documents provided by the Fondazione Isabella Scelsi. Haas describes Introduktion und Transsonation as “a preamble and (sonic) transfer of Scelsi’s thinking and original documents”, which utilizes an electronic tape track of audio material from recorded sound experiments by Scelsi himself.

The program also includes works by Tristan Murail and a performance of Scelsi’s Anahit with violinist Hanna Hurwitz.
