Agata Zubel's In the Shade of an Unshed Tear Debuts at Seattle Symphony

Agata Zubel's In the Shade of an Unshed Tear Debuts at Seattle Symphony

On October 27 and 29, the Seattle Symphony gave the world premiere performances of Agata Zubel’s most recent orchestral work In the Shade of an Unshed Tear, led by Music Director Ludovic Morlot. The Seattle Times hailed Zubel's new work as "bold" and "arresting," harnessing the orchestral spectrum "with prodigious craft." Between the symphony’s performances, Zubel appeared as soloist and composer at the Seattle Symphony’s late-night [untitled] concert series, which she also curated. The program included Zubel’s recent Chapter 13, for soprano and ensemble, based on the 13th chapter of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s novel The Little Prince.

Later this month, Zubel appears as a featured artist at the Festival Now! at the Philharmonie Essen. On November 11, Zubel joins the Ensemble Intercontemporain, conducted by Matthias Pintscher, in a performance of her work Aphorisms on Milosz, followed by performances of Beat Furrer’s Aria and her own Not I on November 12 with E-MEX-Ensemble, led by Christoph Maria Wagner.
