A New Edition of Wozzeck Published as Part of Universal Edition's "Alban Berg Complete Edition"

This spring, the historical-critical Alban Berg Complete Edition gained a new addition: the opera Wozzeck, has been published as part of the collection.

On March 29, 2023, this new edition of Wozzeck was presented by the president of the Alban Berg Foundation, Dr. Maximilian Eiselsberg, to the director of the Vienna State Opera, Dr. Bogdan Roščić. This important, early 20th-century music theater work thus joins the series of works that best reflect the composer's intentions through the complete scholarly edition.

In the new edition, the changes that Berg made after the first performance in 1930 in Vienna are elucidated and reproduced in colored type setting, including the highlighting of the chamber music ensembles.  

The edition will not be available through music retailers for the next two years but will initially be available to subscribers.
