Arvo Pärt in the Spotlight at Lincoln Center’s White Light Festival

On November 17, the sublime and moving music of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt takes center stage at Lincoln Center’s 2012 White Light Festival. Tõnu Kaljuste conducts an all-Pärt program featuring the composers’ Berliner Messe, Te Deum, Trisagion, and Adam’s Lament on November 17 performed by the Latvian Radio Choir and the Sinfonietta Riga at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.

Pärt’s singular tintinnabuli style, with its calming, introspective effect and transformative powers, is a perfect fit for The White Light Festival. Artistic Director Jane Moss explains, “The White Light Festival is an artistic invocation. It is a concert-hall sanctuary from the storm and stress of urban life…[This fall] we explore the hauntingly spare music of Arvo Pärt [and] it is our wish that the festival brings moments of wholeness in this increasingly fragmented world.”
