World Premiere of Makoto Ozone's O'berek by Yang Yang and the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra

Makoto Ozone’s O’berek, as the title suggests, was inspired by the rhythm and feel of the Polish dance, ‘Oberek’. The work is included in the album OZONE 60 which was released in 2021 when Ozone celebrated his 60th birthday. In this album, Ozone recorded the piece as a thrilling work for two pianos, performing both parts himself.

Ozone has completed a new version of this work for piano and orchestra which was premiered on July 20 by Ozone at the piano and the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Yang Yang. Ozone is the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra's Artist-in-Residence.

Last April, Ozone joined Yang Yang and the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra for a highly acclaimed performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 9 KV 271 “Jeunehomme” arranged for jazz trio and orchestra by Ozone.
