World Premiere of Kenji Sakai's Spiral in Blue with Les Vents Français

The world renowned wind quintet Les Vents Français gives the world premiere performance of Kenji Sakai's Spiral in Blue on October 21 at Tokyo's Bunkyo Civic Hall.

Spiral in Blue, commissioned by Bunkyo Civic Hall, receives subsequent performances at the Aichi Arts Center (October 23) and Izumi Hall (October 27) as part of Les Vents Français' Japanese tour. The ensemble is comprised of acclaimed soloists from around the world: Emmanuel Pahud (flute), François Leleux (oboe), Paul Meyer (clarinet), Radovan Vlatkovic (horn) and Gilbert Audin (bassoon).

Later this season, Sakai receives a portrait concert of his works with New York's "Music from Japan"—America's leading presenter of Japanese contemporary and traditional music. The event takes place February 18 in New York and includes the premiere of a new work commissioned for the occasion.
