World Premiere of Cristóbal Halffter's Melancolía

On July 13, The Basel Chamber Orchestra presented the world premiere of Melancolía by Cristóbal Halffter, one of the great Spanish composers of the last half century, who passed away this year, on May 23. The performance took place at the 37th Festival Internacional de Música de Canarias under the baton of Pedro Halffter and was presented alongside with works by Beethoven and Chopin, performed together with the prestigious pianist Ivo Pogorelich.
