Vocal and Chamber Music of Kurt Weill Across the Country

Several vocal and chamber works of Kurt Weill are featured in performances across the country this month. To start things off, the Las Vegas Philharmonic performs Weill’s Kleine Dreigroschenmusik on April 2 and 3, conducted by Donato Cabrera. Singer Storm Large performs The Seven Deadly Sins in concert with the Midland Symphony Orchestra on April 9, conducted by Bohuslav Rattay. Also on April 9, Boston’s Emmanuel Music and Urbanity Dance present a new staging of the Sins, with Lynn Torgrove as Anna I, and Ryan Turner conducting. The Jasper Quartet performs the String Quartet, op. 8, and an evening of Weill songs with Ute Lemper on April 11, presented by Music Mondays in New York City. Storm Large closes out the month with another performance of Sins, this time with the National Symphony Orchestra (April 28-30), conducted by James Gaffigan.
