Victoria Borisova-Ollas’s Vinden som ingenting minns Debuts with Swedish Chamber Orchestra and Radio Choir

On December 3, Thomas Dausgaard leads the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and Radio Choir in the world premiere of Victoria Borisova-Ollas’s Vinden som ingenting minns (Wind Without Memory). The work, based on texts by Nobel Prize winning novelist Pär Lagerkvist, was commissioned by the Örebro Konserthus in Örebro, Sweden, which hosts the premiere performance.

Later this season, Borisova-Ollas receives two performances of her 2006 orchestral work Open Ground. Vassily Sinaisky conducts a performance with the Malmö Symfoniorchester in Sweden on January 28, and on March 3 Jessica Cottis leads the BBC Symphony Orchestra in a performance of the work in London. Open Ground, commissioned by the RSO Stockholm, was inspired by Salman Rushdie’s novel “The Ground Beneath Her Feet.” In a review of the work, Thomas Anderberg wrote for the Swedish journal Dagens Nyheter that “very few [composers] have the same feeling for sonic colours and energetic motion in the orchestra as Borisova-Ollas.”
