US Premiere of Jörg Widmann’s Partita
Feb. 27, 2018
The Boston Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Andris Nelsons, presents the US premiere of Jörg Widmann’s Partita March 29-April 3 in Boston's Symphony Hall. Co-commissioned by the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Widmann's new work is cast in a baroque structure divided into five movements: I Grave-Gigue - II Andante - III Divertimento - IV Sarabande - V Chaconne.
In addition to the performances of Partita, audiences will have the opportunity to hear the work in an open rehearsal on March 29. Widmann will also curate a concert of his chamber music and participate in a conversation about his work at the New England Conservatory in Williams’s Hall as part of the BSO’s “What I Hear” series on March 29.
