US Premiere of Carl Vine’s Choral Symphony

Jun. 01, 2019

US Premiere of Carl Vine’s Choral Symphony

On June 14-15, the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus, led by Carlos Kalmar, perform the US premiere of Carl Vine’s Choral Symphony as part of the Grant Park Music Festival.

Scored for SATB choir, organ and orchestra, Vine's Choral Symphony sets four ancient hymns that have remained unspoken for thousands of years: ‘Enuma Elish’, an Akkadian creation myth describing the creation of the world from primeval chaos, and three Homeric hymns to the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun (in Greek, the ‘Epic Dialect’).
