The Virginia Arts Festival Celebrates John Duffy

The Virginia Arts Festival celebrates the life and work of John Duffy this month as part of the Ninth Annual Season of the Festival's John Duffy Composers Institute.

As an acknowledgment to Duffy’s achievements as a composer, mentor and advocate of contemporary music in America, the Festival spotlights his career at a reception and performance on May 28, hosted by composer Libby Larsen and artistic director Robert Cross. The performance, which takes place at the Robin Hixon Theater in Norfolk, Virginia, features premieres of works by composer fellows of the Institute. Dedicated to the inspiration, creation, performance and recording of new music by living composers, the John Duffy Composers Institute was founded by the Virginia Arts Festival in 2005.
