It was premiered in 2016 at Ordway Concert Hall in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Patricia Kopatchinskaja notes:

"In this violin concerto [Mauricio Sotelo] uses the solo violin and strings, a real flamenco-dancer, and a percussionist. The dancer literally represents the rhythm, he is possessed with it and the characters he dances are utterly precisely shaped in his movements and sound of his feet. I never had such a corporeal experience of rhythm. I felt it in all of my bones, fingers, and bow."
