Territorial Premieres of Mauricio Sotelo's Red Inner Light Sculpture in Sweden, Austria and Spain

Nov. 01, 2021

Mauricio Sotelo's Red Inner Light Sculpture was commissioned by the violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja and composed for German sculptor, Alexander Polzin's 40th birthday. It was premiered in 2016 at Ordway Concert Hall in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This month, the orchestra Musica Vitae will give the first performances of Red Inner LightSculpture in Sweden (November 19-21), Austria (November 28), and Spain (November 29).

Patricia Kopatchinskaja notes:

"In this violin concerto [Mauricio Sotelo] uses the solo violin and strings, a real flamenco-dancer, and a percussionist. The dancer literally represents the rhythm, he is possessed with it and the characters he dances are utterly precisely shaped in his movements and sound of his feet. I never had such a corporeal experience of rhythm. I felt it in all of my bones, fingers, and bow."
