US Premiere of Tansy Davies's salt box

On February 11, ensembleNEWSRQ, led by Geroge Nickson, performs the US premiere of Tansy Davies's salt box. The ensemble says:

"2019 marks the 150th Anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad at Promontory Point, Utah. enSRQ celebrates this milestone with an inventive, deep and profound look at how trains, railroads, and humans have charted paths; both constructive and destructive."

The composer notes:
"salt box was the name given to a wooden box used on battleships, to hold ammunition cartridges, and to keep them dry."

Next month, on March 24, members of the Seattle Symphony perform the US premiere of Aquatic at the Raisbeck Music Center, as part of Octave 9's Contemporary Music Marathon.
