Schott Music Enters into Worldwide Cooperation with M.P. Belaieff

Aug. 01, 2006

We are pleased to announce that we have entered into an extensive co-operation with the music publisher M. P. Belaieff, Frankfurt. As from August 1, 2006, Schott Music will undertake the worldwide distribution of all printed music editions of Belaieff; the stage and concert works of Belaieff's catalogue have already been represented by Schott since July 1, 2006.

The M. P. Belaieff music publishing house was founded in Leipzig in 1885 by the Russian musician and sponsor Mitrofan Petrovich Belaieff. The publishing house provides the editorial complement to the Belaieff Foundation, supporting the development and dissemination of Russian music. The publishing programme contains works by Russian masters from the 19th and 20th centuries as well as by contemporary composers, including works by Alexander Borodin, Alexander Glazunov, Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov, Alexander Skryabin, Alexander and Ivan Tcherepnin, Alexander Raskatov (*1953) and Valentin Silvestrov (*1937).

The most prominent works for the stage are the operas Prince Igor of Borodin and Glinka's A Life for the Tsar, as well as Rimsky-Korsakov's Sheherazade as a ballet. Also available from Schott are concert works such as Glinka's overture to Ruslan and Lyudmila, the symphonic oeuvre of Glazunov, the symphonies, the Piano Concerto in F sharp minor and Le Pome de lExstase by Scriabin as well as the symphonies of Borodin. Schott also now represents the complete output of Silvestrov, including six symphonies, chamber, piano and vocal music.
