Feldman in Focus with Red Light New Music at Leonard Nimoy Thalia

On Monday, February 27, New York City’s Red Light New Music presents The Viola in My Life: The Influence of Morton Feldman, an exploration of the music of this contemporary music luminary and his lasting influence on 21st century composers. Taking place at Symphony Space’s Leonard Nimoy Thalia, the program features two sections from the eponymous cycle by Feldman as well as brand new works by Scott Wollschleger, Ted Hearne and Keeril Makan that play off principal ideas and aesthetics found in Feldman’s music. The Viola in My Life is a gorgeous succession of delicate sounds in which Feldman, through the interaction of sound and silence, conjures up a desolate magic on a plane where time somehow becomes altered, and transformed.
