Oberlin Conservatory Performs US Premiere of Kenneth Hesketh's <em>Detail from the Record</em>

Timothy Weiss leads the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble in the US premiere of Kenneth Hesketh’s Detail from the Record on December 13. The piece, scored for chamber orchestra, was commissioned by the Michael Vyner Trust for the London Sinfonietta. Detail from the Record was composed in honor of the 50th birthday of Hesketh’s friend and mentor, Oliver Knussen, who conducted the piece’s premiere in London in 2006. The piece is part of a larger work for Japanese puppet theatre, The Record of Ancient Matter, and draws on Hesketh’s interest in Japanese folk legends.

The program takes place at the Warner Concert Hall in Oberlin, Ohio and also features a performance of Andrew Norman’s Try.
