Nino Rota's Aladino e la lampada magica Performed at the Festival della Valle d'Itria Martina Franca
Jul. 24, 2024
On July 27-August 4, the Festival della Valle d’Itria will present Nino Rota's opera, Aladino e la lampada magica at the Palazzo Ducale in Martina Franca, Puglia. The production, featuring the opera in its original version, is conducted by Francesco Lanzillotta and directed by Rita Cosentino with scenery and costumes by Leila Fteita.
Aladdin knows exactly what he wants: to play with his friends on the street and work as little as possible while still getting rich, having enough food to eat and later marrying the most beautiful girl in the whole of Arabia. An evil magician helps Aladdin, gaining his trust by giving him the present of a magic ring. The magician’s friendship is calculated, however: he merely uses Aladdin as a tool which will help him get hold of a magic lamp. The reduced version of the famous story also enables this popular work to be performed on smaller stages.
Aladino e la lampada magica is a grand work for audiences of all ages, featuring a robust cast, full orchestra, and lots of dramatic action.
