New Recording of Douglas J. Cuomo's a raft, the sky, the wild sea, featuring Joe Lovano and the Winston-Salem Symphony

A new recording of Douglas J. Cuomo's saxophone concerto, a raft, a sky, the wild sea was released this month on the Blue Cloud Music label, and is now available for streaming. The limited edition vinyl version can also be ordered here. The album feaures Joe Lovano on tenor saxophone, along the Winston-Salem Symphony conducted by Michelle Merrill.  

Cuomo notes: "The central inspiration for this work is the idea of a journey through the unknown, expressed in two ways. On an intimate level it reflects an individual spiritual exploration; on a global level it grapples with the realities faced by the millions of children, women, and men throughout the world who are forced to flee their homelands in search of a better life."

Douglas J. Cuomo’s a raft, the sky, the wild sea was co-commissioned by the London Philharmonic, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and the Winston-Salem Symphony.
