The following day, the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra, led by Mariano Chiacchiarini, performed the sinfonietta version of Balch's Chamber Music at KKL Luzern. In addition, Balch's Aluminum Forest was also installed at the Peterskapelle. The work is a site-variable installation for hand-made automated aluminum wind chimes, that was premiered at the Villa Aurelia Gardens in Rome when the composer was in residence at the American Academy in Rome as the Elliot Carter Rome Prize Fellow. Aluminum Forest was created in partnership with composer and sound artist, Ted Moore. The work seamlessly combines technology with art to create a unique installation.
