Music of Frank Zappa in Scotland and Italy

The Giorgio Bernasconi Chamber Ensemble from the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, led by Peter Rundel, performs the genre-defying compositions from Frank Zappa’s “The Yellow Shark” on October 6 and 7 in Milan at the Piccolo Teatro, in Rome at the Roma-Europa Festival on October 10, and in Reggio Emilia at Festival Aperto on October 12.  The 16 pieces that comprise this collection from "The Yellow Shark" were described by Zappa as among the best representations of his orchestral works. 2018 marks the 25th anniversary year of the release of "The Yellow Shark" and of Zappa’s death on December 4, 1993.

Additionally, on October 25, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, led by Ilan Volkov, performs Frank Zappa's The Perfect Stranger on a program that also includes Julian Anderson's The Imaginary Museum, featuring pianist Steven Osborne as soloist.
