Music by Anders Hillborg Takes Center Stage at the Staunton Music Festival

Anders Hillborg is the Staunton Music Festival's 2023 Composer-in-Residence and performances of his works abound. On August 13, Festival musicians perform Anders Hillborg's Six Pieces for Wind Quintet. On August 15, the Kongsgaard Variations, for string quartet, is performed alongside music by Grieg, Johan Helmich Roman (affectionately referred to as "the Swedish Handel") and Sibelius. Anders Hillborg is featured in a "Meet the Composer" event on August 16 that also features a performance of Hillborg's Duet for clarinet and violin. Later that evening, Hillborg's The Breathing of the World, for chorus, is performed. On August 17, O dessa ögon, for voice and string quintet is played alongside music by Mozart, Clara and Robert Schumann, Handel, and more. Finally, on August 18, Bach Materia and the composer's arrangement for violin and strings of the Bach chorale "Ich ruf zu dir" are performed alongside the Brandenburg Concerto No. 2.
