Matthias Pintscher's Fünf Orchesterstücke with the New World Symphony

On February 13, Matthias Pintscher conducts the New World Symphony in a performance of his own Fünf Orchesterstücke at the New World Center in Miami Beach, FL. The program also features a performance of Pierre Boulez’s …explosante-fixe…, for solo flute, live electronics, two flutes and ensemble, with soloist Masha Popova.

Pintscher’s Fünf Orchesterstücke was commissioned by the Salzburg Festival, with the support of Betty Freeman, and premiered by Kent Nagano and the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Later this month, Salt Lake City’s NOVA Chamber Music Series celebrates Pintscher’s music with a performance of his beyond (a system of passing) for solo flute, Janusgesicht for viola and cello and In Nomine for solo viola. The performance takes place on February 28 at the University of Utah’s Libby Gardner Hall.
