Makoto Ozone's Arrangement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 9 for Jazz Trio and Orchestra Available from Schott Music

Oct. 01, 2021

We are pleased to announce the addition of Makoto Ozone's arrangement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 9, KV 271 “Jeunehomme” to the Schott Japan hire catalogue. Makoto Ozone is an active and highly acclaimed jazz pianist and composer. Ozone first performed Mozart's piano concerto in its original form with the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Tadaaki Otaka, in October 2003. He was commissioned by the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra to arrange the work for jazz big band in 2014 and performed the premiere of the big band version with that orchestra.

Schott Japan has just added Ozone's 2019 arrangement of the same work for orchestra. This version features orchestration by Shu Kanematsu, based on the 2014 big band version. In the version for orchestra, a jazz piano trio takes the role of soloist with the full orchestra, and the witty and dynamic arrangement offers a new take on Mozart's music in which jazz and classical music are splendidly blended.
