Kenji Sakai's <em>In a blink "Epigraph for hide"</em> Debuts with Kyoto Symphony Orchestra

Kenji Sakai, one of Japan’s most successful young composers, sees the world premiere of his new work for solo horn, piano and orchestra, In a blink "Epigraph for hide", performed by the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra. The program “Legend Symphony Volume 1: hide” is a tribute to the legendary Japanese rock musician “hide” (1964-1998) who was a member of the band “X Japan”.

Sakai’s In a blink, which was commissioned by the Mainichi Broadcasting System, Inc. (MBS) and composed as an homage to hide, is presented alongside several orchestrations of hide's music. Sakai's new work was composed not just as an orchestral transcription, but as an entirely new work using his own contemporary approach as a tribute to hide.

The premiere takes place on May 13 and 14 at the Kyoto Concert Hall in Kyoto, Japan, led by Kazufumi Yamashita.
