Joseph Schwantner's New Work for Flute and Piano, Looking Back, Now Available in Edition Schott Publication

Last month Joseph Schwantner saw the world premiere of his new work Looking Back at the National Flute Association Convention in New York City performed by flutist Alexa Still and pianist Stephen Gosling. A highlight of the 2009 NFA Convention, the premiere was accompanied by the release of the publication of Looking Back in Schott Music's Edition Schott series.

Schwantner continues his tenure as the featured composer of the Ford Made in America Commissioning Consortium with his work Chasing Light still in the midst of its tour of more than 50 orchestras across the country. Upcoming stops on the Ford Made in America tour where Schwantner is appearing as composer-in-residence include: the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra, November 17-22, where Schwantner will also be guest conductor for the performance at University of Michigan; Nashua Symphony Orchestra, November 9-28, including a four-date state-wide tour of New Hampshire; Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, February 3-7, at University of Alabama in Huntsville's New Music Festival; and Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra, April 28-May 2, Delaware, Ohio.

Schwantner takes up the position of composer-in-residence outside the Ford Made in America realm as well this season at Vanderbilt University (February 23-27); University of Memphis' New Music Festival where he is featured guest composer (March 24-28); and at the Omaha Symphony Orchestra where he leads a new music symposium on May 30-June 4.
