Jonny Greenwood in Portrait with the MDR Sinfonieorchester; There Will Be Blood Tours the UK

The New Year starts with a flourish of performances for composer and musician Jonny Greenwood. Highlights include a portrait concert by the MDR Sinfonieorchester in Leipzig as well as a tour of performances of Greenwood’s score to There Will Be Blood performed live to the film by the London Contemporary Orchestra.

On January 19, Kristjan Järvi leads the MDR Sinfonieorchester in a concert dedicated to Greenwood’s works, including the German premiere of Water as well as performances of 48 Responses to Polymorphia and the Suite from 'There Will Be Blood'. The program is scheduled as part of the orchestra’s Ideal Chaos Festival.

Later this month, the London Contemporary Orchestra gives a series of live performances of Greenwood’s score to Paul Thomas Anderson’s Academy Award-winning film There Will Be Blood throughout the UK. Performances take place at London’s Royal Festival Hall (January 30), Symphony Hall in Birmingham (February 5), the Brighton Dome (February 6), and Colston Hall in Bristol (February 7).
