International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) Presents "Perspectives: Pierre Boulez at 90"
Nov. 04, 2015

In honor of Pierre Boulez’s 90th birthday, Brooklyn’s National Sawdust hosts bassoonist and conductor Pascal Gallois and the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) for a momentous series of concerts exploring the composer’s works. The series, titled New Dialogues, takes place over four nights and sets many of Boulez’s well-known masterworks alongside works of his peers and those of young composers. Performances take place November 17, 18, 19 and 21 with programs including Êclat and Le marteau sans maître with soprano Katalin Károlyi.
Also this month, the Wien Modern Festival kicks off with a Boulez celebration on November 5. Cornelius Meister conducts the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien in a performance of Pli selon pli (Portrait de Mallarmé) featuring soprano Marisol Montalvo. The performance takes place at the Vienna Konzerthaus.
Details on the performances can be found at nationalsawdust.org and wienmodern.at.
