Kings Place Immersive Concert Highlights the String Works of Gavin Bryars Celebrating his 80th Birthday

On October 1 at Kings Place, the Phaedra Ensemble and Laura Jurd will present an immersive concert reimagining some of Gavin Bryars's most iconic works with new multimedia creations and spatialized sound.  Phaedra will perform works spanning decades of Bryars's career, including String Quartet No. 4 (2019-20), The Sinking of the Titanic (1969/1996), A Man in a Room, Gambling (1992), and 1, 2, 1-2-3-4 (1971). The concert also features a new commission from acclaimed jazz trumpeter and composer Laura Jurd, reflecting on the music of Bryars, who will perform with the ensemble.
