Gershwin is Sweeping the Country

This season the works of George Gershwin are being performed throughout the United States and North America at an incredible pace. October alone features more than 40 unique performances of Gershwin works in a season of many highlights. Some performances of note include:

Indianapolis Symphony: Girl Crazy Overture, Promenade and Gershwin in Hollywood on October 20 and 21.

Portland Symphony Orchestra: By Strauss, Summertime and Rhapsody in Blue on October 21 and 22.

Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal: Catfish Row Suite on October 12.

Four companies mount full productions of Porgy and Bess in October:
            Michigan Opera Theatre: October 22 though November 5
            Opera Pacific: October 4 and 5
            Opera Memphis: October 14 and 15
            Beck Center (Ohio) for the Arts: Currently running through October 8

Further performances of Porgy and Bess can be seen later this season at Los Angeles Opera and Opera Company of Philadelphia, among many others.
