Frank Zappa at NDR Symphony Orchestra and Bayerisches Staatsballett

On April 17, Jonathan Stockhammer leads the NDR Symphony Orchestra in a program featuring several orchestral works by Frank Zappa, including Reagan at Bitburg, Feeding the Monkies at Ma Maison, Naval Aviation in Art?, Aerobics in Bondage, and Put a Motor in Yourself, alongside music by Edgard Varèse. The program, which takes place at the Kampnagel Theatre in Hamburg, will be recorded for broadcast on May 15 and available to stream on NDR’s website for a period following the performance.

Also this month, the Bayerisches Staatsballett presents “Der gelbe Klang” (The Yellow Sound) featuring performances of Zappa’s Be-Bop Tango, The Dog Breath Variations/Uncle Meat, G-Spot Tornado and Naval Aviation in Art? by the Bayerisches Staatsorchester with choreography by Michael Simon. "The Yellow Sound" was conceived in 1906 by Wassily Kandinsky as a synesthetic conceptual work, uniting color, sound and movement. The performance, led by Myron Romanul, takes place as part of BallettFestwoche 2015 at the Bayerisches National Theater on April 23 with a repeat performance on May 19.
