György Ligeti in November

Several exciting performances György Ligeti's music take place this month throughout the US and Canada. Under the direction of Alan Pierson, Alarm Will Sound will present Ligeti's energetic 5-movement Piano Concerto, showcasing pianist John Orfe, on November 6 at the Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. Then, on November 15, the Orchestras at Ithaca College, led by Octavio Mas-Aroca, will perform Lontano.

Next, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, conducted by David Danzmayr and featuring violinist Jennifer Koh, performs Ligeti's Violin Concerto on November 16-18. Then, under the direction of Bill Linwood, the Aventa Ensemble will present Ligeti's Chamber Concerto at the University of Victoria's School of Music in Canada on November 18.

György Ligeti's Concert Românesc will appear in Quebec with the Orchestre Symphonique du Quebec led by Jean-Marie Zeitouni,  on November 18. Also on November 18, Ligeti's Ramifications (1968) is performed by The Montclair Orchestra under the direction of David Chan.
