On November 5, the Aichi Chamber Orchestra, led by Kazuki Yamada, performed the world premiere of excerpts from Julian Yu's Variations on "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" as part of the Aichi Orchestra Festival at the Aichi Prefectural Art Theater in Japan. Composed in 2013, the work consists of four sections: Book I (Counterpoint / Harmony / Melody), Book II (Parodies A), Book III (Parodies B), and Book IV (20th Century & Popular). Including the main theme, the work consists of fifty-seven pieces which are based on certain concepts or themes, or inspired by different composers. Each section can be played as a whole, or individual pieces can be selected and played separately.
