Erich Wolfgang Korngold's Academy Award-Winning Score to TheAdventures of Robin Hood Now Available in Expanded Symphonic Portrait
Apr. 01, 2008
Erich Wolfgang Korngold'sAcademy Award-winning score to the 1938 film The Adventures of Robin Hood is now available in a new symphonic portrait arranged by John Mauceri. The portrait expands upon the material from the original symphonic suite which was a simplified 16-minute work that utilized a reduced orchestration and remained the only published materials from the award-winning score.
In this arrangement Mauceri expands the duration to 28 minutes and the story of Robin Hood emerges as a type of tone poem without altering a single note of the original material. Listener's enjoy a more complete understanding of Korngold's magnificent achievement in the new suite and experience a more complex and fulfilling journey with each performance. This work, written in dedication to the Korngold family, received its world premiere in Vienna's Konzerthaus on November 29, 2007 on the 50th anniversary of the composer's death.
