Emanuel Ax Performs World Premiere of Thomas Adès' Three Mazurkas at Carnegie Hall

Feb. 01, 2010

Distinguished pianist Emanuel Ax performs the world premiere of Thomas Adès' Three Mazurkas at Carnegie Hall on February 10, 2010. A stand-out complement to the pianist's Celebrating Chopin and Schumann at 200 recital, Three Mazurkas was written for Emanuel Ax and commissioned by the Barbican Centre, Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, San Francisco Symphony, Het Concertgebouw and Carnegie Hall. The performance serves as a precursor to Adès' visit to Carnegie Hall next month in which he leads the Ensemble ACJW, performs a solo piano recital and performs the US premiere of his work Lieux retrouvés with cellist Steven Isserlis and violinist Anthony Marwood.
