Project Schott New York (PSNY): New Publications Available For Immediate Download
Apr. 01, 2020
Founded in 2011, PSNY, or Project Schott New York, was the first digital music publishing portal of its kind to be developed by a major music publishing house. PSNY represents a highly selective catalogue of music by composers writing for a wide range of ensembles and music fans alike, featuring hundreds of new works by over 50 of the most exciting composers of our time, all available for immediate download. Each PSNY Composer Edition is a published edition of the composer's self-published work. The edition preserves elements of the composer’s individual “house style” while conforming to PSNY's professional publishing standards. Today's composers possess a self-producing capacity that is far beyond the capacities of any other era in the history of notated music. We embraced this new development nearly ten years ago and believe our role as publisher is to make the very best new works available to the public in the most convenient way possible. Since many of us are now at home in observance of self-isolation guidelines, being able to access the best new music of our time immediately is not only convenient but essential.
PSNY employs an interactive, media-rich online interface connecting musicians and audiences directly with the creators of new work. Composers, performers, and music lovers all play an active role on the PSNY site, which has been designed expressly to accommodate and promote a new online space for the discovery and discussion of new music.
Recent additions to the PSNY collection include Alvin Singleton's Argoru series for various solo instruments, as well as new chamber works by Matthias Pintscher and Christopher Cerrone. Study scores for many orchestral and operatic works are available for purchase as well, including the Grawemeyer Award-winning works, Play by Andrew Norman, and A Thousand Mountains, A Million Streams by Lei Liang, study and vocal scores of operas by Tobias Picker and Gregory Spears, and others.
