May. 29, 2026
On May 14–17, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, led by Jamie Martín, premiered Christopher Cerrone's Selah, a new double concerto for violin and cello, with Anthony Marwood and Coleman Itzkoff in three performances across Costa Mesa, Los Angeles, and Beverly Hills.
Then, on May 28, the Orchestra of the League of Composers, conducted by David Fulmer, presented its annual Sinfonia Concert at the DiMenna Center in NYC. The program featured Bruce Reiprich's Inflorescence with flutist Jennifer Grimm, Sheree Clement's Intermezzo no. 13, Fred Lerdahl's Chords, Amy Williams's Telephone, and Christopher Cerrone's The Pieces that Fall to Earth.
Additionally, Cerrone's newest album, "The Year of Silence," will be released by Pentatone on June 26. The piece was written for the Louisville Orchestra under Teddy Abrams, with Dashon Burton as vocalist and narrator. Cerrone notes that The Year of Silence, "was based on a short story by Kevin Brockmeier — I first encountered it in 2010; I didn’t find my way back to it until the early months of the pandemic, when the streets went quiet and the story suddenly felt less like fiction."
