Beat Furrer in Portrait with Sound Icon and Argento Ensemble

The Boston University Center for New Music hosts Beat Furrer as composer-in-residence this month. Highlights of the residency, which takes place from April 11-30, include two portrait concerts by the Argento Chamber Ensemble and Boston’s Sound Icon.

On April 16, the Argento Chamber Ensemble performs Furrer’s Aer for clarinet, cello and piano, as well as the ensemble works linea dell’orizzonte and Still at Boston University’s Concert Hall. Led by Michel Galante, the ensemble gives a repeat performance of the program at New York’s Zankel Hall on April 25.

On April 28, Jeffrey Means leads the acclaimed new music ensemble Sound Icon in performances of Furrer’s Aria and Gaspra at Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art. In collaboration with IRCAM, the Paris-based Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music, the program also includes Pierre Boulez’s Anthèmes 2 and Tristan Murail’s L’esprit des Dunes

Details on the performances can be found at argentomusic.org and icaboston.org.
