Arvo Pärt's Fratres, in Version for Four Percussion, Given US Premiere by So Percussion
Nov. 02, 2007
Arvo Pärt's classic work Fratres has been arranged for many different—and sometimes unusual—instrumental configurations, including chamber ensemble; 4, 8 or 12 celli; trombone, string orchestra and percussion; and wind octet and percussion. Fratres' most recently adapted incarnation is for four percussion and was premiered in September 2006 by the Percussion Ensemble PaukenFEST.
On November 20 in New York City, So Percussion gives the US Premiere of Fratres in this most recent version. With its premiere performance of Fratres, So Percussion, comprising a quartet of percussionists all in their twenties, continues to solidify its position as a leading percussion ensemble and an important purveyor of new music. Also included in the November 20 performance are works from Martin Bresnick and Paul Lansky.
