Konzerthaus Dortmund Presents an Arvo Pärt Festival

The Konzerthaus Dortmund presented a thrilling festival dedicated to the music of Arvo Pärt from February 15-18. The festival highlighted various genres of Pärt's prolific oeuvre. The festival follows Konzerthaus Dortmund's presentation of a concert January 19 by Paavo Järvi and the Estonian Festival Orchestra in which they performed Pärt's Symphony No. 1 "Polyphonic"; Summa, and Cantus in memory of Benjamin Britten.

On February 15, concertgoers heard some of Pärt's best-loved choral and chamber music, including Spiegel im Spiegel, Veni Creator, Te Deum, and Vater Unser (version for choir and string orchestra), led by Tõnu Kaljuste.

The next day, Kristiina Poska led the WDR Sinfonieorchester in a performance of Pärt's double concerto Tabula Rasa alongside works by J.S. Bach and Shostakovich.

On February 17, pianist and neuropsychology researcher, Nicolas Namoradze, and violinist Hugo Ticciati performed works by Pärt, Ligeti, Bach, and Fauré, with "Mindful Listening" guidance provided by Namoradze.
