Arvo Pärt Days Festival in Estonia

The Nargenfestival celebrates the 81st birthday of Arvo Pärt this month with a series of concerts and events comprising the 2016 Arvo Pärt Days Festival. The festival takes place from September 2 to 11 with concerts across Estonia in Tallinn, Tartu, Paide and Rakvere. 

The festival opens on September 2 in Tallinn with the Estonian premiere of Pärt’s Greater Antiphons for string orchestra, which had its world premiere in May with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. On September 11, conductor and festival founder Tõnu Kaljuste dedicates a birthday concert to Arvo Pärt featuring the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and violinist Harry Traksmann in performances of Pärt’s Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten, Magnificat, Fratres and Te Deum at the St. John’s Church in Tallinn.
