Aribert Reimann Awarded "Der Faust" Theater Prize and L'invisible Named "World Premiere of the Year"

We are enormously delighted that Aribert Reimann has been awarded the renowned theatre prize “Der Faust” for his life’s work. This accolade goes to a composer whose stage works have found a permanent place within the genre. The first opera by Reimann that springs to mind is naturally Lear, which has been performed in over thirty different productions on international stages since 1978, and still continues to enthrall audiences today. The jury wrote the following in its assessment: “Music theatre, above all in Germany, but also across the globe, owes an incredible sum to this technically brilliant and artistically inspired composer with his highly alert dramatic and theatrical instincts.”

In addition, Reimann's opera L'invisible has been named "World Premiere of the Year" (20117-2018) by Opernwelt MagazineL'invisible was premiered in October 2017 at Deutsche Oper Berlin and is the third new Reimann opera in a row to receive this award.
