Alvin Singleton on the Cover of NewMusicBox, the Web Magazine of the American Music Center

The March cover of NewMusicBox, the web magazine of the American Music Center, features our very own Alvin Singleton.The cover feature on Singleton includes the transcript of a conversation between the composer and NewMusicBox editor Frank J. Oteri as well as a short video presentation of highlights from their discussion accompanied by recorded excerpts of Singleton's music.

As the recipient of the Aaron Copland Bogliasco Fellowship in Music by the Bogliasco Foundation, Singleton will serve as Composer-in-Residence at the Liguria Study Center for the Arts and Humanities from April 19 through May 20, 2008 in Bogliasco (Genova), Italy. While there he will be composing a newly commissioned work for chorus and chamber orchestra based on an original text by poet and librettist Patricia Hampl. The piece will celebrate the 100th anniversary and re-dedication of the Fort Greene Park Martyrs' Monument in Brooklyn - called by historian David McCullough one of the most sacred Revolutionary War memorial sites in the country.
