Aleksander Nowak’s ahat ilī - sister of the gods Performed in Poland

On December 20, the Camerata Silesia and AUKSO (Orkiestry Kameralnej Miasta Tychy), under the baton of Marek Moś, perform Aleksander Nowak's opera ahat ilī - sister of the gods in Tychy, Poland. The libretto is by Olga Tokarczuk, winner of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Literature, based on her novel, Anna In in the tombs of the world, which retells one of civilization's oldest myths – the story of a descent into the underworld, the fight that ensues there, and the consequences of those events. The heroes of the story are divine, human and demonic figures guided by various mysterious forces, entwined with each other by a network of fatal relationships. Unlike the original myth, the main character is not a god but rather a man trying to find his place in a world ruled by gods. The man tries to understand this world and save himself from impending catastrophe that the gods have created. The end of the world will not yet come, but it is the man who must make the final sacrifice in order to maintain the divine order.
