A Season of Premieres and Noteable Performances for Philipp Maintz

For Aachen-born composer Philipp Maintz, the new year begins with an impressive series of world premieres and first performances that will take place in his native city and beyond. Performances by Christopher Ward and the Sinfonieorchester Aachen of their “Composer-in-Focus's” red china green house take place on January 1 in Aachen and on January 5 in the Kölner Philharmonie. Additionally, the world premiere of a long-planned project, jag die hunde zurück! for six sopranos and six percussionists after Ingeborg Bachmann and commissioned by the Kölner Philharmonie, will take place on January 20. The day before, at the “Ultraschall” Festival for New Music in Berlin, upon a moment's shallow rim for violoncello and large orchestra will be performed by cellist Johannes Moser and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin conducted by Markus Poschner together with zu welcher stunde for chamber orchestra by fellow Bärenreiter composer, Charlotte Seither.

Looking ahead, the world premiere of Maintz's orchestral work ariadne faden will be performed on February 16-17 in Aachen by the Sinfonieorchester Aachen under the baton of Marc Niemann, and additional performances of his music follow throughout the spring season in Aachen, Berlin, and Leipzig.
