Wolfgang Rihm’s A Tribute Premieres with the Hallé Orchestra and Sir Mark Elder
Jun. 03, 2013

The Hallé Orchestra presents the world premiere of Wolfgang Rihm’s new work for orchestra, A Tribute (Über die Linie VIII), as part of the Aldeburgh Festival this month. The concert takes place on June 23 at the Snape Maltings Concert Hall under the direction of Sir Mark Elder. A Tribute is an homage to Benjamin Britten and the latest in Rihm’s Über die Linie (Over the Line) series. The new piece was commissioned by the Britten-Pears Foundation and the Royal Philharmonic Society to mark the centenary of Benjamin Britten and the bicentenary of the Royal Philharmonic Society.
A Tribute will also be featured in the Hallé Orchestra’s 2013-2014 season with a performance on October 24 at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester led by conductor Markus Stenz.
