Ohio State University Hosts Joseph Schwantner Composer Residency

"Joseph Schwantner draws the listener into his world of stunningly attractive sounds and rhythms," comments Ohio State Contemporary Music Festival director Russel C. Mikkelson introducing this year’s featured composer.  The Pulitzer Prize-winning composer’s solo, chamber, and symphonic music is showcased in two unique programs at the University’s Weigel Auditorium on April 26 and 27.

Performers will include Ohio State School of Music faculty soloists and chamber ensembles, student ensembles, and guest soprano Lucy Shelton. Works include Silver Halo for flute quartet, From a Dark Millennium for symphonic band, Looking Back for flute and piano, Sparrows for soprano and ensemble, among several others.
