Da Camera of Houston Premiere Pierre Jalbert's <em>Fanfare Da Camera</em>; the String Orchestra of Brooklyn Perform <em>Elegy</em>

Pierre Jalbert sees back to back performances of his music this month kicking off the new concert season with both orchestral and chamber works. On September 28, Jalbert’s newest work, Fanfare Da Camera, receives its world premiere by Da Camera of Houston. The new work, written for a brass trio of two trumpets and trombone, offers an antiphonal opening to Da Camera’s 25th season, with the three instruments positioned in separate spaces throughout the hall. Fanfare Da Camera was commissioned by Claudia and David Hatchner in honor of the 25th anniversary of the esteemed Da Camera concert series. The concert takes place at the Cullen Theater of the Wortham Center in Houston, TX, and features Theresa Hanebury and Jim Vassallo on trumpet and Thomas Hulten on trombone.

Following shortly on the heels of the Fanfare Da Camera premiere, the String Orchestra of Brooklyn performs Pierre Jalbert’s Elegy on September 29. Commissioned by Gerard Schwarz and the Eastern Music Festival in 2011, Elegy aptly displays Jalbert's masterly approach to the short form, evoking a profound emotional range over a span of only six minutes.  Eli Spindel conducts the performance which takes place at Brooklyn's St. Ann and the Holy Trinity Church.
