Jul. 09, 2009Rufus Wainwright's Prima Donna sees its world premiere on July 10 at the Manchester International Festival, directed by Daniel Kramer and performed by the Orchestra of Opera North under the baton of Pierre-André Valade. The concert music of the Grammy-nominated composer, performer and songwriter is now represented by European American Music, as North American rental agent for Wainwright's publisher, Warner/Chappell Music, and its print music affiliate, Alfred Publishing.
100th Anniversary of Stravinsky's Firebird in 2010
June 2010 marks 100 years since the premiere of Igor Stravinsky's Firebird. This summer the New York City Ballet performs the Firebird Suite, choreographed by the legendary George Balanchine. In addition, several of Stravinsky's other works see performances all over the country next season including the Violin Concerto in D, Symphony in Three Movements, Dances Concertantes and Symphony in C.
Jul. 08, 2009- Los Angeles Opera presents the US premiere of Franz Schreker's The Stigmatized on April 10, 2010 conducted by James Conlon as part of his Recovered Voices series. The performance marks the first staging of a Schreker opera in the Western Hemisphere.
Summer Highlights of the BBC Proms
The BBC Proms returns this summer for its 115th season with another enormous musical offering. This year the Schott catalogue is well represented with performances of the music of Ryan Wigglesworth, Toru Takemitsu, Toshio Hosokawa, John Casken, Heinz Holliger and Bernd Alois Zimmermann.
